Course Duration

Both courses are five-days in length (Monday-Friday) with travel to the course on Sunday and departure no earlier than 1800 on Friday.

Anticipate classes daily from 0830–1630 with some evening commitments.

Course Cost

Each five-day course is $2,000 per attendee. For budget request purposes, please note there is a card processing fee of 3% automatically added for a course total of $2,060.

Travel and per diem is the responsibility of the attendee’s organization. For budgeting purposes, expect per diem at current government rates for each location.

Successful Course Completion

(Measure of Performance)

For each of the courses, course completion certificates are achieved by attaining an 80% or higher on the final course exam and full participation in assigned working groups.

Basic Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is ideal for beginner and intermediate level protocol professionals, or those looking for a refresher. Our experienced instructors provide a solid foundation ensuring every attendee has the skills necessary to plan and execute ceremonies, visits, events, socials, or conferences. All attendees will be added to a networking group with fellow protocol professionals.

During the week of training expect the following: social/icebreaker – plan and execute a VIP evening event – plan and execute change of command and retirement ceremonies – quizzes and course completion test.

**Those who previously attended, or are familiar with, JMAR courses under prior ownership: the above Basic Course encompasses new material and all material from what was formally known as Phase I and a portion of material from Phase II.

Advanced Course

PREREQUISITE:

To register for the Advanced Course, attendees need to have completed JMAR Basic Course or what was formerly called JMARs Phase I & II or other basic protocol training.

Documentation of proof will be required. Contact JMAR for specific questions on qualification for attendance.

How to earn designation as a Certified Protocol Specialist

Designation as Certified Protocol Specialist reflects an individual’s experience and training in the field of military and government protocol and event management. It does not guarantee any individual’s professionalism or their ultimate job performance. JMAR Protocol believes this certification provides a clear indication that the certified individual is fully trained, ready, and competent to perform and manage protocol or event management duties within the bounds of their certified specialty.

Requirements to apply:

  • Completion of what was formerly known as JMAR Phase I, II & III OR
  • Completion of JMAR Protocol Basic and Advanced Courses
  • Two years’ experience in protocol

Cancelation Policy

Cancellations must be made no later than two weeks prior to the course start date. Cancellations will only be accepted through email. Once cancellation email is received and confirmed, allow up to 30 days for a reimbursement minus the card processing fee.

If cancellation is not made two weeks prior to the course start date, no refund will be offered with the exception of the following:

  • Short notice deployment or short notice military school enrollment.
  • Severe illness or incapacitation.
  • Natural Disaster impacting travel, disaster relief support, or personally impacted.
  • Bereavement

These exceptions will only be granted on the condition of JMAR receiving email notification by close of business on the first day of your scheduled course. Reimbursement will not be provided until JMAR receives appropriate documentation supporting the exception (orders, memorandum by medical provider, etc.) When JMAR receives your email, we will respond with what documentation will be required for reimbursement.
